Instructions
Step 1: Cook the Chickpeas
- If using dried chickpeas or Black Chana (kala chana), soak them in water overnight.
- Drain and rinse, then pressure cook with fresh water, salt, and turmeric for 20-25 minutes (or until soft).
- If using canned chickpeas, rinse and drain them before use.
Step 2: Prepare the Masala
- Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds.
- Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
- Stir in ginger-garlic paste and cook for 1 minute.
- Add pureed tomatoes and cook until oil separates.
- Mix in turmeric, coriander powder, cumin powder, red chili powder, garam masala, and salt.
- Cook for 2-3 minutes, then add water and let it simmer.

- Simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
