Ingredients:

  • 200g paneer, cubed
  • 1 cup green peas (fresh or frozen)
  • 2 tablespoons oil or ghee
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 2 tomatoes, pureed
  • 1 green chili, finely chopped (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • ½ teaspoon turmeric powder
  • ½ teaspoon red chili powder
  • ½ teaspoon garam masala
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tablespoons fresh cream or cashew paste (optional for creaminess)
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh coriander (for garnish)

Step-by-Step Instructions:

  1. Heat oil or ghee in a pan on medium flame.
  2. Add cumin seeds and let them crackle for a few seconds.
  3. Add grated ginger and cook for 20-30 seconds.
  4. Add green chili (if using) and stir.
  5. Add the pureed tomatoes and cook for 5–7 minutes until the oil starts to separate.
  6. Add turmeric powder, coriander powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix everything well.
  7. Add green peas and a little water (about ¼ cup). Cover the pan and cook for 5 minutes until peas become soft.
  8. Add paneer cubes and mix gently. Cook for 3–4 minutes.
  9. Add fresh cream or cashew paste if you want a creamy gravy. Mix well.
  10. Sprinkle garam masala and stir gently.
  11. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
  12. Serve hot with roti, paratha, or rice.

  • Use homemade paneer for best texture and freshness.
  • Cashew paste makes the gravy richer and more festive.
  • Add a pinch of sugar to balance the tang from tomatoes if needed.
