Shahi Paneer Kaise Banate Hain

A rich and creamy North Indian paneer dish made with a royal blend of spices, cream, and nuts. Perfect for special occasions!



Ingredients:

  • 200g paneer, cut into cubes
  • 2 tablespoons oil or ghee
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 2 green cardamoms
  • 4 black peppercorns
  • 1-inch cinnamon stick
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 2 medium onions, chopped
  • 2 tomatoes, pureed
  • 10 cashews (soaked in warm water for 15 minutes)
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • ½ teaspoon turmeric powder
  • ½ teaspoon red chili powder
  • Salt to taste
  • ½ teaspoon garam masala
  • ¼ cup fresh cream
  • 1 teaspoon kasuri methi (dried fenugreek leaves), crushed
  • Chopped coriander for garnish

Step-by-Step Instructions:

  1. Soak cashews in warm water for 15 minutes, then blend into a smooth paste.
  2. Heat oil or ghee in a pan. Add bay leaf, cardamoms, peppercorns, cinnamon stick, and cumin seeds.
  3. Once they splutter, add grated ginger and sauté for 30 seconds.
  4. Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
  5. Add tomato puree and cook for 5–6 minutes until oil separates.
  6. Add turmeric powder, coriander powder, red chili powder, and salt. Cook for a minute.
  7. Add cashew paste and mix well. Cook for 2–3 minutes.
  8. Add ½ to 1 cup water to adjust the gravy consistency. Bring it to a boil.
  9. Add paneer cubes and simmer for 5 minutes.
  10. Add fresh cream, garam masala, and kasuri methi. Mix gently and cook for 1–2 minutes.
  11. Garnish with chopped coriander and serve hot.
